(3 lessons + 1 photo) 52 weeks = 2013 strategy for learning retention

Two verses are on my heart today:

Proverbs 31:25 “She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.”

Psalm 90:12 “So teach us to number our days that we may get a heart of wisdom.”

Here’s the deal- I want to be the sort of gal who can laugh at the days to come. More often than not I find myself worrying about the days to come, or trying to figure out what the days may hold; essentially, I am anything but laughing at them. Cue title of blog.

This year, along with every year from here on out I suppose, needs to be a laughin’ at em’ kind of year. I am not arrogantly idealistic in thinking that this will happen through some measure of will power or self motivation; I have tried both of those and can attest that it lasts for a short while, if at all. I am confident that I will only be able to laugh at the days to come when my hope and security and worth are found in Jesus and His promises.

Onto the second verse– I’m praying that the Lord will teach me to number my days, i.e. make the most of them and be grateful for them, so that I may gain a heart of wisdom.

So, as I turn from the last page of 2011 to the first page of 2012, I have a few things that I want to do differently in this chapter.  New Years is hilarious. I always find myself trying to create some premeditated time for introspection– you know, schedule time to recap on all the things that I learned over time. Every year I forget the previous year and think that scheduling such time is a great idea. And it is… until I get distracted, or bored, or frustrated at this or that memory.

Long story short, I am planning ahead for New Years 2013. I am going to keep track of everything that I learn this year by ‘blogging’ on a weekly basis. This will help my scatter-brain keep things straight, or at least documented, and hopefully enable me to reverently and gratefully reflect on all that God has taught me about Him, myself and life in general.

I will be tracking 4 things

1. What I learned about God

2. What I learned about myself

3. Miscellaneous learning

4. photo of the week

I am technologically inept and have never blogged. Here’s to a new adventure.

Laughin’ at em’
